Volunteering at Horizons
Horizons relies on parents to bring their creative thoughts and energies to our school to help, to teach, to assist and to add to our wonderful learning community. There are a number of ways to volunteer and we encourage you to think about how you might best offer your time and talent. In order to volunteer, you have to be background checked. There are two ways to do this. Click here.
We use a website called helpatschool.org to sign up for volunteer opportunities. Check it out!
For the safety of our students, we need crossing guards. Please sign up here if you can help.
Our garden and grounds need love. Please sign up here to assist.
Do you like taking pictures? Our yearbook committee is a fun way to work with other parents to commemorate the school year. Check it out here.
On most Friday (Pizza Fridays) afternoons (dismissal at 1245 PM), Horizons sells pizza. Can you help? Sign up here.
Other committees that always need assistance are:
- Fundraising & Development- interested? Email Lucas
- Diversity & Inclusion – Email email@example.com
Events that will require volunteers are:
- Harvest Dance – an all school dance in October
- Artastic Fair – a huge makers fair in our very own gym…great for holiday shopping
- Pancake Breakfast- come make, and enjoy breakfast with a few hundred friends
The Horizons Community Group and Classroom Liaisons keep our school moving. This page describes these dynamic volunteers and we hope you will consider helping Horizons by assisting and attending meetings and events.
Horizons Council Meetings are held the third Thursday of most months. This is the school’s collective voice and you are a member and you have a voice. Please keep an eye open for Council Meetings on our school calendar. Council agendas will be sent to you via Skylines. Parents provide snacks, teachers provide drinks and childcare is provided. We hope to see you there.
Horizons Board Meetings are open for observation to all stakeholders. Horizons also has a Finance Review Committee that meets monthly. If you are interested or have a skill to share in the financial upkeep of our school, please contact Lucas.
