August 3 on a variety of community service projects. Projects will include such activities as trail

construction and maintenance, historic preservation, forest thinning, construction and repair of

Horizons Community Group Project Meeting

HCG Project Meeting

Friday, Jan. 15th

8:309:30 a.m. in the Cafeteria

This month we are going to gather to support each other on an important topic: decluttering our homes!  I picked up the popular book, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” by Marie Kondo, and decided that I want to share my obsession with it. Let’s bond over our “clutter.”

Jamie Schlomberg and I will lead this meeting to share our experience, insights, and tips from this book and popular organizational method. We hope you join us. Everyone is welcome!

New Choir Session Beginning

Capture

Horizons K-8  CHOIR

Dear Parent/Student,

The second session of Choir at Horizons will begin Tuesday, January 12th right after school! Classes are 45 minutes long, from 3:45-4:30pm. (Supervision is provided from 3:30-3:45).

In its second year, Choir is a wonderful opportunity for kids to grow musically, meet new friends who share their love for singing, and to learn HOW to sing correctly! All levels are welcome (advanced singers will have the opportunity to work in a smaller ensemble as well as the group).

Choir is being taught by Ellen Moeller and Alice Hartman.

Since these classes are not part of the school curriculum, there is a charge. There are 3 sessions each year, at a cost of $125 per session ($12.50 per class). Part of this fee is for the rental of the room at the school and the insurance we have to have in order to offer class.

To enroll your student for the second session, please fill out the attached form below and return to Hope at the front desk or email Ellen at ellen@ellenmoeller.com

News from Boulder Valley School District Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment applications due by 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15

The Boulder Valley School District Open Enrollment process is currently underway. The deadline for submittal of this year’s open enrollment applications is next Friday, January 15, 2016 by 4:00 p.m.

Each year many families from both within and outside the district apply to attend our exceptional schools that support a variety of high quality educational programs. Students may attend their district designated neighborhood school (based on home address) or open enroll to another neighborhood, focus or charter school within the district. Through the open enrollment process, families may choose to enroll their student in a school outside of their neighborhood as long as there is sufficient programming, staff and space at the school. Families who reside outside BVSD may also open enroll their children into this district.

This year, to better support our families, the district is testing a process that removes the need for students who move out of their school’s neighborhood to apply back to that school in order to remain enrolled there. For the current year, as capacity allows, families who have moved and wish to remain at their current school need simply notify the school registrar they would like to remain enrolled, provide proof of their new address, and sign an affidavit indicating their intention to continue their enrollment at that school.

If you wish to learn more about the open enrollment process and how to submit an application, click on the following link to Open Enrollment on the district’s website. If you have further questions, please contact the Enrollment Office at 720-561-5900.
