K-8 Family Movie Night

When: Saturday, April 27

Time: 5:00-7:30 PM

Dear Horizons Parents, Families, and Staff,

My name is Chloe Wozniak and I am in 7th grade.  I am currently working on my Learning Challenge. For my Learning Challenge, I am learning about homelessness, the causes of homelessness, ways I can help make a difference, and how I can educate others.

As I was researching I came across a way I could help by raising money for the homeless shelter. The Boulder Shelter for the Homeless allows you to Adopt a Night. If I can raise $487 I will be able to adopt a night, which will include the cost of a warm clean bed and two hot meals for 160 people. The only problem was how am I going to raise this money? So that’s when I decided to have an all-school family movie night.

This movie night was designed to raise money and help educate others about homelessness.  There will be $5 meals from BVSD food truck from 5:00-7:00. I will be selling homemade baked goods and snacks. There is a suggested donation of $5 per family.

This is a community event for kids and their families. Kids and parents are welcome to bring sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, stuffies, etc. You are also welcome to wear pajamas or onesies. At the beginning of the movie night, I will be giving a short (10-15 minute) presentation about homelessness and ways you can help make a difference. There will also be brochures handed out.

Thanks,  Chloe
