Embrace The Awkward

Hello Families and Friends,
I’d like to invite you to join me in the HIKE FOR HOPE effort on Sunday, June 16, 2019 to raise awareness for suicide prevention and education.   The hike is 1.5 miles around the red rocks amphitheater and totally doable!
As you may already know, there are nationwide efforts raising awareness about mental health resources and suicide prevention.    I was lucky to attend the National Conference on Suicidology and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) volunteer training events this spring.
Although it may be awkward to talk about mental health and suicide, I’m willing to EMBRACE THE AWKWARD and talk with anyone wanting to learn more about suicide, prevention and statistics affecting our community.  Additionally, Mental Health Partners are leading an initiative to train 4098   individuals this year!
Our 7th and 8th grade students received a presentation from Colie’s Closet earlier this spring, learning new information and strategies to help protect each other along with ways to reach out if they feel someone needs some connection.  As always, anyone can use SAFE2TELL to let trusted adults know about a student concern.    I am also available to anyone wanting  to learn more about the hike, resources and insights from these recent professional development opportunities.
Yours in health & wellness,
