Horizons K-8 has two governing bodies that meet monthly. The Horizons Board is an elected group of parents and faculty including Lauren that help guide important decisions impacting our school. Horizons Council is a much larger and informal group of community members.
The Horizons Board agenda posts in Skylines on the Tuesday before the Board meeting. Board Minutes get approved at the Board meeting the following month; then are posted publicly on the website under meeting minutes after any amendments are made and approved. Board minutes that are posted will also contain relative documents, such as board approved budgets. Board Meetings are always open to the public for observation and are conducted the 2nd Thursday of every month, unless there is a scheduling conflict such as Outdoor Education Week.
The Horizons K-8 calendar is a great resource to keep up to date on the meeting dates.
The Horizons Council agenda posts in Skylines the Friday before the Council meeting. Council Minutes are always posted shortly after the Council meeting on the website under meeting minutes. To keep a pulse on the happenings at Horizons K-8, we invite all members of the community to join us on Council night which is the 3rd Thursday of the month (unless there is a scheduling conflict) where faculty, board members, and parents gather. We welcome a discussion on a variety of topics K through 8 that are relative to parents and faculty alike. Come meet other community members and add your valuable voice to the conversation. Childcare is provided.
