Our goal at Horizons is to ensure that every student feels connected to their school, friends, and community. We collaborate with students, parents, and staff to build upon Social Emotional Learning (SEL).  Classroom lessons and experiences will increase student competencies in the following areas:

  • Self-management
  • Self-awareness
  • Social awareness
  • Relationship skills
  • Responsible decision making

In addition to Social Emotional Learning, the school counselor provides resources about career education, grade-level transitions, and strategies for coping with life’s curve balls.  For more information about the school counselor’s role, visit the American School Counseling Association’s model mindsets and behaviors for students.
